Special Exposure Wednesday - Toys

My kids have way too many toys.  The other day however I was wondering how many families play these games....

See dolly get an NG tube?

See Dolly use a bath aid?

See Dolly practise using her walker?

And it isn't just Dolly who cops it...

These aren't staged pics - this is how I find the toys - although I will confess to providing the tape for Dolly's NG tube.  I often overhear toys being subjected to physiotherapy or medical procedures by Emma or Audrey, and it is not uncommon to find them re-enacting therapy of some sort.

Do your non-SN kids do this too?  Or perhaps even your SN kids do...Ashlea's play skills aren't that advanced yet.

Don't forget to check out all the other great Special Exposure Wednesday photos here.

Oh Alison - this is way too funny - and I think it's wonderful! You saw my post about the wheelchair for the teddy bear/dolls! Your kids are way ahead of other kids! And yes, my kids play with her equipment all the time! We should get a doll with a gtube in it!

So cute! Love the NG Tube doll!

Emily is use to do the same, but now has moved on to doing therapy with Violet herself!

LOL..that is too funny.
yes my little girls often pretend to be their brother and sit in the special chair. But mostly they just play house.

At first I thought your photos were a way of preparing your child for what they had to do and thought it was an excellent idea. Then saw what they really were - good work on your child's part!

Fantastic! They really should sell dolls and teddies doing these things - create a more inclusive and accepting group of little ones ;-)

This is really great. I will have to start taking pictures of these things that also occur at our house. I haven't ever really thought them as being out of the ordinary because this is our life. Made me laugh.

these are great pics! Kayla will sometimes imitate things from the doctor's office with her dolls, or she'll imitate me when I put her in the naughty spot LOL One time she was playing with a rubber ball and I don't know what it did, but she emphatically brought the ball over to the corner, waving her finger at it, and saying blah blah blah 'naughty spot'! One minute!' sit there! LOL

Too funny! I think it's their way of processing things. Jack is slowly moving toward more pretend type play and he is just starting to do things with Elmo that we do with him. It's very cute!

Thank god other families have strange play time. My kids (who are able bodied) hop in the walking frames and run around with Moo following closely behind in his powerchair. I sometimes wonder what the neighbours must think.

Unfortuntely our kids know way to much medical info. My other boys are always talking to other people about trachs and feeding tubes. Who knows, maybe our kids will grow up to be doctors!

Very cute (and great pretend-play skills)! My guys aren't much on role-playing type pretend, but we do find some interesting set-ups with their toys sometimes :).
