Special Exposure Wednesday: Artworks

In last week's SEW, I talked about Ashlea's love of preschool - and particularly her love of painting.  One of my commenters asked what she likes to paint.  So, for your viewing pleasure, a few of Ashlea's recent works...

And the artist herself...

As you can see, she has had some assistance from her teacher for some of them.  Ashlea's favourite new thing is to write her name.  Her teacher holds her hand and they do it together.  Nothing short of amazing for this sensorially defensive child who HATES having her hands touched.

Amazing!!!! Does Ashlea enjoy touching the paint and stuff? It's amazing how different kids are. I tend to think that Jack does not enjoy art because he does not see it well but I don't suppose Ashlea sees it all that well either. So anyway.....feelin a teensy bit green over the art fascination. :)

Marie - Ashlea does NOT enjoy getting the paint on her hands!! She loves the experience of standing there with her teacher and the two of them painting together. She can see enough to enjoy painting. I think her vision has improved a little from 6/60 (20/200 which I think is Jack's level??) to 6/36 (not sure how to convert that one...maybe around 20/100?).

I think also the fact that it is a preschool thing and she is doing preschool stuff really appeals to her.

I love her smile! Glad she's enjoying preschool. Is it me or is she getting big really quick?

Love the artwork! Love the pick of the talented artist! It is amazing how they suprise you with things that you think they would hate doing-sensory issues and all!

Awwww....that's sweet that she likes working with her teacher. Jack....hmmmm....would rather be left alone unless it's something he wants to do. We are working on it. *sigh*
I'm sorry but I do not remember what caused Ashlea's loss of vision. Was it optic nerve atrophy like Jack? I'm excited to hear that it has improved! Do you expect it to improve a bit more with time? Jack's vision appears to be holding steady at 20/320. (have no idea how that converts)
