Sweet Relief

The heat wave is over.

The last 7 (or was it 8) days it has been over 35 degrees in north-western Sydney - that's 95 for those of you in the US.  Many days it has been 40 (104).

Blech.

Ashlea really does not do well in the heat.  I think because of her kidneys she just doesn't have any reserve and is very prone to dehydration.  Fortunately we have air conditioning which has made life quite manageable - we didn't have to sleep on the bathroom floor like some friends.

One confession I do have (other than running the aircon day and night), is that one night I couldn't be bothered to shower the children.  Instead I added bubble bath to the wading pool and they 'bathed' outside.

How did everyone else stay cool???

We have been fans of the outdoor bath for a while - in the plastic clamshell on the verandah.

We survived with two $1 portable airconditioners, i.e pink spraybottles from Kmart.

Misses L & W have been very enthusiastic about cooling us all down...

What a great idea bubbles in the outdoor pool. One sure way of saving water!

We too have aircon (evap) which is great if it is not sticky and humid. Luckily we have a spa, if its hot, we take the cover off, drop the temp on it so its coooooool as!

Oh you know I'm jealous. I'd much rather be hot than freezing. I need winter to be over!

We are lucky enough to have ducted air in the farmhouse...put in especially for Violet from the owners a few years back.

So we stayed inside most of the days.

Oh we love the outdoor bath/swim too! My kids would vote for a hose off everynight if they could! Glad the heat is on it's way out for you xo
