Thankfulness May 24

Today I am thankful for:

474.  God's wisdom that is so much wiser than ours;
In the eyes of the world it would be easy to look at our family and see us as a tragedy. An object of pity.  Dare I say it I think even other Christians view us as an object of pity - a child with serious disabilities, a husband with a brain injury. Who wants that??? Thank God that His wisdom is so different to worldly wisdom. Thank God that He promises to use the foolish and weak things of this world to shame the wise.  Disability does not preclude Ashlea or Murray from being in God's kingdom.  They will stand firm on the last day because of Jesus when many of the so called wise will not.

475.  The reminder not to chase after the world's wisdom;

476.  The wise - yet foolish sounding message of the bible - Christ the power and wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:25-30
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.  But God chose the foolishthings of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,  so that no one may boast before him.  It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

OK, so no prizes for guessing I have been at Equip today - thank God for the great bible teaching year after year at that conference.  Today we were encouraged to come up with a hashtag of our own to sum up the day's teaching.  I couldn't come up with one so I'm going to steal someone else's awesome one:  #notfoolishforever.  How good is that?  By God's grace what seems foolish now will one day bring glory to Him.  Come Lord Jesus.
