Thankfulness Jul 31

Today at school it was dress up as a Super Hero day to raise money for Bear Cottage Super Hero Week.

Today I am thanking God for My 3 Super Heroes:

My 3 Super Heroes

699.  For Super Hero Ashlea for her determination, her perseverance and her general joie de vivre.  She dressed up as herself for super hero day because she IS a super hero;

Super-Ashlea

 700.  For Super Hero Audrey for her kind, caring and co-operative nature.  She dressed up as a doctor for super hero day because they are the true super heroes.  Specifically she was a kidney specialist;

Dr Audrey

 701.  For Super Hero Emma for her quirkiness, her energy and her bravery in managing her anxiety.  She dressed up as Spyro who is apparently a hero in Skylanders.

Spyro Emma

Super Ashlea to the rescue!

Thankfulness Jul 30

Today I am thanking God for:

One way Ashlea does spelling in class.  At the beginning of the year
she couldn't do this independently now it's a snap.

Choir Angel

696.  A great school Open Day.  It was lovely to visit the girls in their classrooms and then to see them all perform.  Just quietly my child was the absolute standout performer in junior choir.  Not that I'm biased.  Nor did I actually watch any of the other children - I was mesmerised by Ashlea singing her heart out and doing the actions along with the other kids.  She rocked it;

697.  A new screen door;

698.  A glorious sunny winters day.  Even I wasn't cold so it must have been warm.

Psalm 150:6
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.

Thankfulness Jul 29

Today I am thanking God for:

Girls in pyjamas

693.  A very inclusive game of hide and seek - Emma and Audrey take turns to hide a (noisy) toy Furby and then the other wears a blind fold and goes searching with Ashlea;

694.  Wise women to study the bible with;

695.  My stash of Foot Toms in the cupboard.  There was a death in the family today...Ashlea threw Tom out of bed when his batteries ran out....and killed him for good.  She was very sad.  Lucky I had a replacement at the ready.

Psalm 150:6
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.

Thankfulness Jul 28

Today I am thanking God for:

A miracle...spontaneous reading.  Notice the iPad sitting beside her
timing her?  She only gets 30 mins on the iPad if she reads for 30 mins.
You gotta do what you gotta do!

690.  Low salt donuts;

691.  Tonight's sunset;

692.  Hot showers.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.

Thankfulness Jul 27

Today I am thanking God for:

Ashlea and I...and the fluffy white house coat....

687.  The after church child swap that results in you leaving church with the same number of children you arrived with - just not the same actual children;

688.  Half an hour to sit in the sun and chat with a wise woman;

689.  Heaps of our favourite foods being on special at Coles today.  I was so excited by this that it almost made up for the fact that I realised at the check out that I had accidentally left the house (and done all the grocery shopping) while wearing my fluffy white house coat.

1 Tim 1:12
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.

Thankfulness Jul 26 - Plus Advice Needed!!

Today I am thanking God for:

Onesie days are the new pyjama days...

684.  A quiet Saturday;

685.  My gorgeous girls;

686.  The freedom of religion we enjoy in Austrlia unlike many believers around the world - particularly in Iraq at the moment.

And now for the advice - which seems trivial compared to world events at the moment but that doesn't mean I don't still need help!  Blenderized dieters I need you!!  I made Ashlea some smoosh - chicken, pumpkin, broccoli and carrot.  I blitzed it in the thermie to what I thought was a good puree consistency.  Then I tried to put it down her tube.  Not as easy as it looks.  So my questions are:
- what do you put in your blends?
- how much liquid do you add?
- what consistency is it?
- how do you get air bubbles out of the syringe without squirting smoosh on the ceiling?
- what else do I need to know????

I am not doing the full blended diet at the moment, just replacing dinner with a puree.  I offered it orally but she was not interested - can't say I blame her.  Look how it turned out:

Thankfulness Jul 25

Today I am thanking God for:

Tears of a clown...

681.  Being able to change Ashlea's button at home after it fell out during the night (and had been out half the night with the hole starting to close over...).  It was a little traumatic for all of us but I was able to get it in without needing to go to the hospital.  We even managed to get to school on time in spite of the drama;

682.  Ashlea's resilience.  It really hurt her but within a short while she had bounced back to her usual happy self completely forgiving me for torturing her.  She never holds a grudge even though I have had to hold her down for many unpleasant procedures over the years;

683.  Meeting with some kindred spirits tonight to pray and support each other along the journey.

Thankfulness Jul 24

Today I am thanking God for:

Why selfies with cats are a bad idea...

678.  A distinction for Emma in the science competition;

679.  A friend to read the bible and pray with;

680.  A cat to remind me why I really don't want a cat (even though I kind of do want one).

1 Tim 1:12
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.

Thankfulness Jul 23

Today I am thanking God for:

The pet bird conundrum solved!

675.  Running into a friend at the shops and having someone to natter with while getting groceries;

676.  The satisfaction that comes from having a tidy house room in my house (just one but it's a start);

677. A reading assessment for Emma.  She did so well that the speech therapist's first comment was 'So why are we doing this test?'.  Ha.  At least we can tick that off - she does NOT have a reading disability.

Thankfulness Jul 22

Today I am thanking God for:

Where did this baby go???

672.  Friends offering meals;

673.  Kit-kats;

674.  Most importantly today I am thankful that when I accidentally emailed some prayer points to a WORK COLLEAGUE instead of to the MINISTER that I didn't include anything too confessional on the list.

Thankfulness Jul 21

Today I am thanking God for:

Would it be bad to be thankful for my child's lack of co-ordination?
Emma wants a pet bird.  I don't want a pet bird.  We compromised
and I told her that if she could catch a wild bird we could keep it.
I think I"m safe :)

668.  Free tickets to Circus Quirkus arriving in the mail today;

669.  No Performance Appraisal for me at work today.  We were meant to do it but thankfully we didn't have time.  You know how sometimes when you're really busy it helps you be productive and get lots done?  Today was not that day.  Today was more of a leave a trail of destruction kind of work day.  Thankfully we didn't get to the appraisal;

670.  My washing machine and clothes dryer.  Pump fails that spill milk and bile all through the bed REALLY annoy me - but how much worse would it be without a good washing machine and dryer? And even though I have a love / hate relationship with the pump how much worse would it be if I didn't have access to this equipment;

671.  The way Emma loves Ashlea.  Emma cops a lot of flack for her behaviour.  I cop a lot of flack for her behaviour, but she just loves Ashlea so we can't be going completely wrong!  Yesterday at Sunday School the kids had to nominate someone they thought was courageous.  A lot of kids gave predictable answers (mum, dad etc) but Emma nominated Ashlea as her courageous person.  Such a proud Mummy moment.

Thankfulness Jul 20

Today I am thanking God for:

Cuddles for big sister...

664.  Carolin and her gym membership that allows her to take up to 2 family members into the indoor pool - and yes the chosen family members were Emma and Audrey.  Not only was it great screen free time but also ACTIVE screen free time;

665.  A big walk at the shops for Ashlea without her walker - just walking and holding my hand like a big girl.  No falls either.  Who'd have ever thought?

666.  Bacon and eggs for dinner;

667.  Ashlea's ability to eat a whole tub of chocolate custard.  It means that if I spill her milk all through the microwave (and down the cupboards and side of the fridge and onto the floor) that I still have something I can feed her!

Psalm 116:17
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.

661.  Rio 2 with the girls for Saturday afternoon fun time;

662.  A Skype chat with some kindred spirits in Canada;

663.  The wonderful world wide web and the many friends I have met both near and far to share the journey of TTTS, special needs and kidney transplants with!

Thankfulness Jul 18

Today I am thanking God for:

Flashback Friday... I found this photo while looking for something else.  It's Ashlea - 11 weeks old / 38.5 weeks pregnant equivalent and still only weighing 1.2 kg - but SO cute.  Actually this is almost exactly 8 years ago - I remember it was taken a week after 'that day'.

658.  A summer holiday booked;

659.  Hot chips for lunch.  Seriously it's been at least a couple of weeks since I last had them - far too long;

660.  A credit in the computer competition for Emma.

Psalm 116:17
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.

Thankfulness Jul 17

Today I am thanking God for:

They're multiplying...

655.  Another day another nanna nap;

656.  The excitement that comes from the whiff of a hint of a possibility of a week long family holiday this summer;

657.  The resumption of dinners with Kate.  We have only missed two weeks due to the school holidays but seeing as they're so far away now it's good to still do this.

I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.

Thankfulness Jul 16

Today I am thanking God for:

652.  A relaxing day at home after the busy-ness of the school holidays.  There's nothing like a good lie down.  For 5 hours;

653.  Strictly Ballroom tonight;

654.  An extra set of free tickets to Strictly Ballroom so that the babysitter (Aunty Carolin who else) can go tomorrow night.  Thanks so much Variety!

Today I am thanking God for:

Back to school face...  I used the 'Angry Pants' filter
for this photo....it seemed appropriate.

647.  A good kidney check up for Ashlea today (creatinine 45);

648.  The good pathology collector;

649.  Some wee caught (and protein free);

650.  Ashlea's lovely doctor;

651.  Friends to pray with.

Thankfulness Jul 14

Today I am thanking God for:

The suit passed the work day test - I didn't need a blankie, hot water
bottle or heater to get through the day!

643.  A pyjama day to finish the school holidays (well I wore my duvet suit rather than my pi's - but that's not much different really);

644.  Thermie red chicken curry for dinner plus two meals ordered from my friend's kitchen meaning no more cooking for me for the rest of the week;

645.  Birthday cake leftovers to eat while I worked.  I'm not sure if the bright blue icing helped or hindered my concentration!

Psalm 116:17
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.

Thankfulness Jul 13 - Party Day!

Today I am thanking God for:

There was a bit of a theme...can you tell?

637.  A great afternoon celebrating Murray's 50th birthday with friends and family;

638.  Sunny winter days when you've organised an outdoor party;

639.  Thermals to keep the chill out;

640.  Aunty Carolin for being on Ashlea duty at the party;

641.  Friends and family to celebrate with;

642.  My awesome cake making friend!

The light on top even lit up!

Thankfulness Jul 12

Today I am thanking God for:

Dr Ashlea in action
Her patient - in hospital waiting for a kidney transplant.  Wearing
a mask and being fed through a tube...  She knows too much...

634.  Some awesome pretend play by Ashlea (and Aunty Carolin);

635.  Party preparations complete - we are ready to celebrate Murray's 50th tomorrow;

636.  Thermie pumpkin soup for dinner (the best part was that I found pre chopped pumpkin in Coles so I didn't even have to cut anything up - that's my kind of cooking).

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
