Thankfulness Aug 31

Today I am thanking God for:

All the fun of the fair... Ashlea discovered
a new taste sensation...

800.  A great family service and spring fair at church today;

801.  A beautiful, warm sunny day for the fair;

802.  Church family to enjoy the day with;

803.  A little lie down in the afternoon to recover from the fun;

804.  Last day of winter today!!!

Somehow I don't think the green will be gone from
Emma's eyebrows in time for school...

Psalm 13:6
I will sing the Lord’s praise,  for he has been good to me.

Thankfulness Aug 30

Today I am thanking God for:

797.  A great day at the farm for Starlight Family Fun Day;

798.  Wonderful organisations like the Starlight Foundation who do so much for sick kids;

799.  The generous people who donate to Starlight and make it all possible;

We fed the animals..

And patted them...

Actually the animals stole the food more than they let us feed them...

Until Emma outsmarted them

Ginger kitty

Dragon

Doesn't this one picture just capture how far Ashlea has come?

Singing Angela likes how she looks

Ashlea thinks we NEED a tractor to ride around on at home now and has also requested I build her a farm.  A RED one apparently?  Wish me luck with that!

Psalm 13:6
I will sing the Lord’s praise,  for he has been good to me.

Thankfulness Aug 29

Today I am thanking God for:

Flashback Friday...Two cute babies

794.  Morning tea with a friend;

795.  An afternoon nap;

796.  Dinner delivered by another friend.

And today's Ashlea-ism...

In school today they were talking about how the Grandma of one of Ashlea's class mates is coming to visit from Turkey.  They talked about how she might come into the classroom and do some cooking with the class.
Her grandson piped up saying 'But she only speaks Turkish...' thinking this would clearly be a problem.
Ashlea piped up with 'Gobble, gobble, gobble' demonstrating that she knows exactly how to speak Turkish.

Queue teachers in hysterics and perplexed looking classmates.

Psalm 13:6
I will sing the Lord’s praise,  for he has been good to me.

Thankfulness Aug 28

Today I am thanking God for:

Our crystals are actually growing!

791.  Ashlea's rehab team.  Unfortunately her hips are now migrated out by 40% and the referral to the orthopaedic team has been written.  Things move slowly in hospital land which is fine by me - I am in no hurry for that big hip surgery but I am thankful we have access to the medical care that we do;

792.  The wonderful conversations between my girls (at the tops of their lungs in front of visitors):
Stop playing with my poo!
It's not your poo - it's the whole family's poo!
Give me the poo!!!

(think poop playdough before you freak out)

793.  Friends, community, support.

Psalm 13:6
I will sing the Lord’s praise,  for he has been good to me.

Thankfulness Aug 27

Today I asked Ashlea what she thought I should have on my thank you list.  So today I am thanking God for:

A science experiment...
Apparently we are growing crystals...

788.  Cuddles with Ashlea;

789.  Ipad;

790.  TV.

She knows me well!

Psalm 13:6
I will sing the Lord’s praise,  for he has been good to me.

Thankfulness Aug 26

Today I am thanking God for:

782.  Getting to see Ashlea get her sports carnival ribbons at assembly today;

783.  Annual leave approved for the September school holidays;

784.  Tuesday morning ladies bible study;

785.  Home work done for the week;

786.  A meal from Rachel for dinner;

787.  Audrey's ability to cope with the cold.  She is currently doing school swimming lessons at the local pool.  Did I mention it's an outdoor pool and that it is still mid winter?  She assures me it's fun!

Psalm 13:6
I will sing the Lord’s praise,  for he has been good to me.

Thankfulness Aug 25

Today I am thanking God for:

I found this photo on my phone from the other day.
Look at that standing!

779.  Ashlea's amazing standing.  I had to take a second look at this photo to make sure it really was her;

780.  A plentiful biscuit supply to sustain me at work (thanks Di!);

781.  Only 6 more days of winter!

Psalm 13:6
I will sing the Lord’s praise,  for he has been good to me.

Thankfulness Aug 24

Today I am thanking God for:

Bedtime stories

776.  The blessing and privilege it is to live in Australia.  Today we had a speaker from Compassion at church tell us about sponsoring children living in poverty.  I told the girls I thought we should sponsor a child - specifically a child with a disability - as imagine what life would be like for Ashlea if we lived in a less fortunate country?  She wouldn't be alive.  Either would Audrey for that matter.   Their response?  Yes we should.  Ashlea's so lucky.  We all are.  That pretty much sums it up;

777.  The work of organisations like Compassion;

778.  The reminder that we have so much to be thankful for.  Seriously we have SO MUCH!

Psalm 135:3
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

Craft on a rainy day...

771.  A roof over our heads;

772.  Food to eat;

773.  Plumbing and sanitation;

774.  Access to healthcare;

775.  Freedom of speech and freedom to worship.

Psalm 135:3
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

Thankfulness Aug 22

Today I am thanking God for:

An afternoon visitor

768.  A quiet afternoon with all of us in our pyjamas VERY early and the promise of a slow morning tomorrow;

769.  Headache tablets;

770.  A Tim Tam suck.  Or two.  Ot three...

Sadly the local bullies chased the visitor away

Thankfulness Aug 20

Today I am thanking God for:

Get it away!  Get it away!

762.  Friends all over the world who share the special needs connection;

763.  A quiet afternoon after school.  My head has been feeling a bit dizzy lately - I'm trying not to freak out.  Thankfully we had a quiet day today and the girls were happy to indulge in extra screen time while I lazed around;

764.  Silly times with my girls.  I bought them the poop-dough play dough...  I apologise in advance Jenny for what your kids are going to do to each other when they get our gift...

Psalm 135:3
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

Thankfulness Aug 19

Today I am thanking God for:

'You're hurting my feelings' says the patient.  It's far more effective than
just telling people to stop what they're doing!

757.  Access to great healthcare.  Today Ashlea had bloods, kidney clinic, Rehab clinic, a hip X-ray and her orthotics repaired - all by 1pm.  We are so blessed to have a great hospital just 10 minutes from home;

758.  Continued good health for Ashlea - her creatinine was 44 today.  Can't complain about that;

759.  Vending machines that use pay pass - such an easy way to get snacks while doing hospital business;

760.  Getting to see Audrey's class lead assembly this afternoon;

761.  Aunty Carolin for minding the kids this afternoon AND DOING THEIR HOMEWORK WITH THEM while I took Murray to an appointment.  So much win.  For me anyway.

Psalm 135:3
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

Thankfulness Aug 18

Today I am thanking God for:

754.  An art class for Emma to try.  I am trying to broaden her anxious horizons.  We have tried music and that has become a total battlefield so now we are trying art classes.  So far so good;

755.  Pink Driveway Privileges at school - meaning we don't have to get wet doing the school run on days like today;

756.  Leftover sausage rolls to eat on this cold day.

Psalm 135:3
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

Thankfulness Aug 17

Today I am thanking God for:

The cutest Anna and Elsa ever

Love's true kiss..

751.  A quiet day at home on this rainy Sunday;

752.  Home made sausage rolls.  Today for some reason I decided that I NEEDED a sausage roll.  Seeing as I can't eat 'regular' sausage rolls I set about making some.  They were a little fiddly but seeing as it has been well over 15 years since I last ate a sausage roll it was all worth it;

753.  A great sermon in church today.  You know those ones where you think it was written just for you?  One of those.

Ashlea wanted to be Elsa too.  She was a bit
miffed when her magic ice hands didn't
actually produce any snow

Thankfulness Aug 16

Today I am thanking God for:

I love this girl of contradictions!

748.  Aunty Carolin for attending choir with Audrey this morning.  It was bring a family member day.  I was especially glad Carolin went when I learnt that the guests had to get up and do Bollywood style dancing.  Sadly I don't have any photographic evidence of that;

749.  A lazy Saturday morning as I didn't have to do the choir drop off;

750.  A Westfield gift card (from Credit Card reward points) that I used to buy the girls new shoes with.  They may have chosen THE MOST SPARKLY SHOES in all of Westfield but at least it didn't feel so much like I was spending MY money on the sparkles.  We may have also visited the cheap dress up bin at the toy shop as you can see by the photo above;

Did I mention they were sparkly...?

Somehow we did manage to resist
buying this....

Thankfulness Aug 15

Today I am thanking God for:

My dragon education continues.... A phoenix apparently

745.  A quiet day and the chance to get some things done;

746.  A new non screen hobby for Emma - drawing dragons.  I"m trying to encourage this non screen activity although it seems I have been swindled and somehow she hasn't given up screens for drawing she's given up reading.  Not sure how that happened but surely it's good for concentration and handwriting so I'll take it;

747.  Peace, safety and stability.

Thankfulness Aug 14

Today I am thanking God for:

Throwback Thursday... Little Emma

742.  My friend Julie for helping me see today's electricity bill in a new light;

743.  The electricity bill that arrived today because ... hello... I have a regular supply of electricity which means I have a warm house filled with appliances to make life easier;

744.  A respite package for Ashlea.  I don't know whether to spend the package on a care worker or a holiday.  These are not bad choices to have to make;

Thankfulness Aug 13

Today I am thanking God for:

Running her race

739.  A sports carnival win for Ashlea.  In kindy she competed using her manual wheelchair.  Last year she competed using her walking frame.  This year she competed independently.  I think she came last but it was still such a huge win!  I don't know how we're going to top that next year?  She might have to learn how to fly;

740.  Emma earning her pen license at school today.  Generally Emma's handwriting looks like a chicken scratched it's feet in the dirt and then walked across her page.  She decided she wanted that pen license so has been trying really hard to write neatly the last few days.  It has meant she hasn't actually completed any of her school work due to the extra time required for neat hand writing but she was determined.  Apparently pen licenses can't be revoked at our school which is just as well as she already told me her writing will probably go back to chicken scratchings tomorrow...;

741.  Lovely spontaneous outdoor play by my girls this afternoon.

Thankfulness Aug 12

Today I am thanking God for:

I love you Tom

736.  The chance to say thank you to the Variety Club by being photographed for the local paper - local friends keep an eye out for us;

737.  A light homework load this week;

738.  One of Rachel's meals for dinner.  My friend Rachel has a business making meals and selling them to time poor (or cooking hating) mums like me.  This week we had Moroccan chicken - although when I ordered it autocorrect changed my order to Mortician chicken.  Either way it was tasty.

Thankfulness Aug 11

Today I am thanking God for:

So cute....From the Vault...5 Years Ago

733.  The power of a bully to bond my girls together.  Audrey's plot got griefed on Minecraft today (yes that sentence does make sense).  Emma saw off the bully and helped Audrey rebuild.  Awwww...they really do love each other;

734.  A meal delivered;

735.  A doona suit on a cold work day - not once was I tempted to turn on the heater.

And today...
